The pandemic froze business and upset the plans of many companies, but some managed to re-adjust and even grow in adversity. The Himo group, represented by five companies covering various sectors of the real estate market, is a good example.
The group that already owned Habita (the first unit of the group to be founded in 2012 and directed to real estate mediation), the company sitio, which manages coworking spaces and Roots, a real estate promoter, decided, in the middle of the pandemic, to move forward to the creation of two more companies – Feitoria, in the segment of Real Estate Asset Management, in 2020 and, in 2021, CM Quadrado, in the area of Construction and Maintenance of Spaces. The goal, emphasizes to Visão, the Himo group’s CEO, José Pedro Pinto, “is to offer a turn-key service, taking advantage of the economy of scale”.
Thanks to this presence in various segments of real estate, the group expects to achieve this year about 11.5 million euros in turnover, after a turnover of 7.5 million euros in 2021.
Of the five business units, Roots, which specializes in real estate development, is the most representative (about 45% of the group’s total turnover), with several ongoing projects, including the last lots of the Campo Real development in Torres Vedras and Batalha Residence, a building located in the iconic Praça da Batalha in Porto, among other projects.
The new normality that resulted from the Covid-19 outbreak and which consolidated teleworking, is having a positive impact on this activity and the company currently manages 15 coworking spaces (totalling 1500 jobs) and five more in co-living in the cities of Lisbon, OPorto, Lisbon, Setúbal, and Aveiro.
